Job Description
Gentis Solutions is seeking a Logistics Specialist to join our team. This contract-to-hire position is located in Lexington, KY. The ideal candidates will have the required skills listed below and be eligible for employment in the United States.


Requirements


  • Highly analytical with the ability to understand/resolve complex operational issues involving numerous, ever-changing variables and constraints
  • College degree or 1+ years of related experience
  • Ability to identify/communicate system issues quickly and effectively
  • Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to identify new methods/processes, determine impact and develop an implementation plan


Desirable Skills


  • Experience in warehouse shipping/receiving, supply chain, general freight hauling, direct store delivery and backhauling transportation operations
  • Proficient in TMS, specific to JDA fleet management, One Network and i-Trade, procurement applications and Company web applications
  • Team-oriented leadership experience


Typical Duties


  • Prepare reports and explain financial performance related to managed freight
  • Review transportation metrics to suggest and implement steps to achieve improvements
  • Review costs and profitability on company-managed lanes regularly
  • Plan all outbound store delivery orders while meeting precise delivery times (PDTs), maximizing trailer cube and minimizing miles driven while also reducing empty miles
  • Tender freight orders to preferred company carriers
  • Audit freight payment process for accuracy and timeliness through current freight payment systems
  • Promote movement of inbound freight on the company's available fleet resources
  • Must be able to perform the essential function of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Maintain accurate route plan data from daily routing sessions and report results
  • Establish routing guides for all new inbound business to ensure lowest cost and greatest revenue while maintaining excellent service
  • Procure freight, identify transportation requirements, handle freight bid negotiations and make carrier selection
  • Maintain the ability to work various shifts, including weekends, nights and holidays
  • Coach and mentor staff in the performance of duties; provide transportation supervisor with feedback
  • Perform what-if routing analysis and continually strive to find efficient ways to route and reduce transportation costs
  • Maintain the Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Monitor inbound TMS to ensure carrier acceptance and rating of shipments
  • Plan, schedule, and route vendor pickups as direct store delivery backhaul returns
