Position Title
Locksmith, part-time

Position Summary
This part-time Locksmith will provide direct support to the senior Locksmith. Specifically, the incumbent will assist with the installation of key cylinders on all doors in the new Gilder Center, assist with removal and reinstallation of crash bars and assist with maintenance and service within the existing campus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records of door keying per dept. and/or areas.
  • Assist with providing/cutting keys when required.
  • Assist with maintaining the Deister Key box system.
  • Assist in providing service and/or maintenance on all door hardware within Gilder and the existing campus.
  • Assist with the removal, adjustment and reinstallation of door crash/panic bars as required.
  • Assist with the removal of construction core cylinders and installation of the ASSA cylinders keyed to AMNH standards.


The expected salary range for the part-time Locksmith is $40.00 – $46.00/hour. This position is overtime eligible.
Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.

Required Qualifications
  • NYC Locksmith Apprentice License will be required within 30 days of onboarding.
  • 1-2 years of Locksmith apprentice work and/or security installations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
