Job Description
THE POSITION

Do you have experience working around horses? Would you like to take your experience to the next level in the exciting world of horse racing? The Bureau of Standardbred Horse Racing is hiring Livestock Workers to assist Veterinarians to handle horses, record data, and collect urine samples at Meadows Racetrack. Apply today!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The individual in this position is responsible for maintaining proper data such as chain of custody procedures, verifies identity of the racehorses through tattoo identification, collect urine samples, handle and verify sample kits, clean work and barn areas, and assist in any other necessary farm activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Work hours are 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • The work schedule is vendor-controlled and is determined by the racing schedule. Work times may vary slightly depending on racing schedule.
  • Permanent part-time employment that may be eligible for benefits.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Experience in general farm work; and such training as may have been gained through completion of the eighth school grade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Willing and able to work in Washington County, PA.
  • Able to perform duties in and around horses with exposure to dust, dirt and hay.
  • Able to work a varied schedule which may include holidays and weekends.
  • Willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
