JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Join ARL/Penn State as a Linux system administrator and work with our team of scientists and engineers to develop and advance our nation’s defense capabilities. At ARL/Penn State, you will have the opportunity to work with top researchers in their fields to execute their state of the art software, with end-goals of transitioning and fielding systems for the U.S. Department of Defense. This is a junior level position with very strong growth opportunities in the area of Linux-based High-Performance Computing (HPC).
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
In this role, you will:
- Perform routine system auditing and reporting
- Work with end-users and HPC system administrators to identify and resolve computing issues
- Participate in the procurement, assembly, and deployment of new computer hardware
- Assist in the installation and upgrades of system firmware and software
- Work with HPC system administrators to develop and deploy various scripts to monitor system health and assess system usage
Education and Experience:
Typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher; 2+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required skills include:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
- Exposure to Linux operating systems in a large-scale environment
- A desire to perform system diagnostics and solve problems
Preferred skills include:
- Active secret security clearance
- Minimum of two years experience with Linux system administration/support
- Experience with HPC systems
- Bachelor's degree in a science discipline
- Experience with RHEL operating system
