SUMMARY: Works under the direction and supervision of the RN in charge. Provides assistance to the physician, mid-level provider, head nurse and patient. The LVN is a member of the health care team responsible for performing assigned nursing care activities. Interprets and supports the mission of Borrego Health.

$28.00 - $38.00
ESSENTIALS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical Functions:
1.LVNs are responsible for knowing the scope of practice.
2.Prepares Charts
3.Obtains consents
4.Assists in controlling patient flow
5.Prepares patients for examinations or procedures including positioning, draping, shaving and disinfecting treatment sites
6.Prepares and replenishes supplies in the treatment room and exam rooms; maintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients
7.Receives patients, take and record chief complaint and prepare patient for examination; record blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oxymetry, height and weight
8.Collects specimens, takes EKGs collect blood samples as requested by clinic personnel; assists the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and splinting
9.Explains to the patient the procedures followed in an examination, a diagnostic test or treatment at the request of clinic personnel 10.Assists the provider in the collection of specimens such as pap smears and throat cultures
11.Assists with exams, invasive procedures and minor surgeries that are carried out by providers
12.Cleans and sterilizes supplies, rooms and equipment
13.Disposes of contaminated, disposable and outdated items
14.Has knowledge of the operation of all equipments in clinical area, and correct use
15.Reports to head nurse when equipment needs maintenance
16.Reports to head nurse when materials needed in clinical area need to be ordered.
17.Arrange dated supplies in order of expiration
18.Places blue dot when new medication or supply is opened
19.Operates under the standing orders of the physician
20.Administers medications, premixed allergens, and performing skin test, patch testing
21.Keeps up to date all quality assurance logs (Oxygen pressure, glucometer, refrigerator temperature, medication inventory, sample medication inventory, immunizations inventory)
22.Has knowledge and practices of department policies and protocols, to ensure uniform delivery of services and promotes quality assurance
23.Reviews patient record and forms for completion and accuracy
24.Answers the telephone and give accurate information
25.Provides patient counseling and education
26.Supplies exam rooms with educational materials
27.Case Manages patients
28.Attends all staff meetings
29.Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed. Maintain good working relationship with all clinic personnel 30.Observes BCHF politics and procedures
31.This does not limit clinical activities. LVNs will work according to Job description and scope of practice, if more training is needed the head nurse will provide it.
32.Responsible for continuing education, has current license and CPR card 33.Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Licensed as Vocational Nurse in the State of California
2.Five years of experience in nursing
3. All staff that is presently working within a clinic is required to have a Current and Valid CPR and First Aide certification on file with the Human Resources Department. This is for clinical and administrative staff. This new license requirement is mandatory for continued employment, CPR and First Aide certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Internet certificates do not comply and for this reason are not valid.
