SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or the Physician, is responsible for providing age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The LPN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and tasks. The role of the LPN also includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and supervision of unlicensed personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Georgia License as a Practical Nurse
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification Required
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing as a Graduate Practical Nurse
Additional Requirements:
- PRN nurses must be flexible with regard to floating to other areas within the department as needed
- Must be able to attend 8 hours a day for the first week to attend mandatory orientation.
- Supplemental Float Staff are required to work a minimum of four (12-hour) shifts per schedule, yet hours are based on the needs of the hospital and are not guaranteed.
- PRN staff may sign up in advance based on the needs of their home unit or other units within the department and may also be called when needs arise
- PRN roles are required to commit to a minimum of forty-eight (48) hours per schedule period with flexibility to work all shifts; one 12 hour shift per week, one 12 hour shift on a weekend per schedule period, one major & one minor holiday.
