Job Description

Position Purpose
The Legal Intern supports the Senior Business Development and Licensing Managers in connection with the patent and license process by providing assistance in administration of intellectual property disclosures, conducting prior art searches, gathering information and reporting data relating to the potential patentability and commercialization of Dartmouth technology, reviewing contracts, assisting with compliance matters, and other tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in an accredited law school, PhD/JD/MS/MBA or similar degree program.

Description
Support of Patent and License Process – Includes evaluating technologies for patentability, including prior art searches, agreement review, compliance evaluations, and review of progress reports from licensees, market and industry research, assisting with pitch deck creation, gathering information about available biological materials, cell lines, and animal models for licensing;
analyzes licensing terms and conditions which create monitoring difficulties and provides a report on such information to supervisor on a scheduled basis.

Attends meetings of the Tech Transfer Office, and other regular meetings as directed, to keep the larger team apprised of compliance and administrative licensing issues and concerns.
