Job Description

Description And Requirements


Lenovo is seeking a Legal Counsel for its Legal Contracts Center of Excellence (COE), reporting to the North America Contracts team leader. This candidate will provide legal support for commercial transactions using project management, process innovation, technology and tools to deliver legal work in a way that drives both improved risk-mitigation and improved efficiency.


Position responsibilities include:


  • Providing proactive advice regarding business and legal issues and risks
  • Drafting and negotiating a high volume of complex technology, sales and partnering agreements, vendor and supplier agreements, public sector contracts, and other commercial contracts including confidentiality agreements, license agreements, data processing agreements, professional services agreements, assignments and amendments; contracts for Direct and Channel sales, RFP/RFIs, resale, nondisclosure, software license/sublicense, evaluation, cloud contracts, XaaS (e.g., DaaS, SaaS etc.), flexible consumption models and other commercial agreements.
  • Developing and implementing legal efficiencies to support business teams, and improving contract processes and operations
  • Collaborating with internal and outside counsel, technology experts, marketing and sales teams, product developers as well as with Lenovo’s customers and suppliers as needed
  • Working with clients and the legal team on strategic initiatives in support of all business units
  • Reviewing existing, and creating new, template agreements and negotiation playbooks to build the team’s knowledge base, and ensure consistency and speed


Job Requirements:


  • JD or LLM and admission to practice
  • 8+ years of drafting and negotiation contracts experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably focused on technology transactions.
  • Experience with Governmental Contracting (Locals, State, Federal) is required.

  • Comfort around running Steering Groups and reporting on performance to clients

Location: Preferred locations include the Raleigh, NC area or the Chicago, IL area; remote positions may be considered, if located on the East Coast. For "on-site" roles, Lenovo leverages a flexible workplace schedule that includes 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.


The base salary budgeted range for this position in Jersey City - NJ, Ithaca - NY or NYC, is 125K-135K. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission. Lenovo’s various benefits can be found on www.lenovobenefits.com.
