Role Summary:

This Flowserve site is part of AMSS division and one of the largest manufacturing facility within the AMSS NA division. This specific site supports several OEM customers, regional manufacturing QRC’s and international affiliates. This site makes highly engineered products that is high mix and low volume. Unit of lot is usually 1 or 2 orders, thus highly controlled production order tracking and visibility system.


The LEAN Leader must exhibit a high level of technical competence, understanding of business processes and a thorough knowledge of lean tools and methodologies that relate to improvement in business functions such as supply chain, warehouse, production, inventory management, and planning. Further he/she will be driving Operational Excellence throughout all areas of manufacturing processes and business functions at the facility level while engaging the stakeholders. He or she will coach, lead, facilitate, and mentor LEAN activities utilize Flowserve Lean tools to identify opportunities, drive to root cause, engage stakeholders, and drive the project execution. He/she must be able to communicate with the wide audiences from shop floor to function managers and site leaders. He/she must possess strong teamwork attributes, ability to influences wide range of audiences. Responsible for facilitating kaizens and driving the results that directly impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and inventory KPI’s.

Responsibilities:

The LEAN leader will oversee site’s productivity and labor efficiency goals, manage Continuous Improvement project decks, kaizen events and lead continuous improvement plans. This includes providing training, coaching, and mentoring stakeholders to drive improvement activities to support goals and objectives of the plant’s KPI.

Engage Manufacturing, engineering, warehouse team, supply chain and other functions to streamline processes, drive velocity in getting customer orders to shipping from order management and to support plant revenue goals while eliminating over-processing of tasks and simplifying the business processes and driving visibility. Own strategic initiatives within the plant assigned to you by leadership and drive those to completion utilizing program management methodology. These initiatives include activities such as business case development, financial analysis, status reporting, driving the project execution projects. Ensure improvement initiatives are data driven, prioritized properly with plant’s goals, and carried out in a timely manner. Promote a culture of continuous improvement at all levels functions within the plant including cross functions through developing a structure within teams to drive projects and use project management and lean tools to drive closure Update and track CI events in the CI database. And develop a sustainable process and procedure for tracking and updating of CI events in the CI database. Accountable for managing projects that will deliver savings, determined annually. Lead, facilitate and execute projects directly related to machining and inspections process using Six Sigma to drive improvements. Lead and facilitate Kaizen events across functional teams to drive improvements and not limited to 6S, VSM, line balancing or SMED. Work with site leadership team to develop site’s strategic improvement objectives and execute on the plan. Spearhead site’s Improvement Roadmap across the VSM’s and functional processes to eliminate waste and drive velocity in getting products to customers. Provide facility wide training on Flowserve lean tools to maintain a culture of continuous improvement with emphasis on visual controls, management and digital factory – bring the relevant metrics to people who influence those metrics directly. Support the development of Lean Tool Champions through training, mentoring, and support for the site. Interface with manufacturing personnel to improve existing processes, increase safety culture through support in Safety actions such as ergonomic concerns, JSA, Machine guarding.


Requirements:

  • Must possess the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities, and projects simultaneously while able to achieve desired results.
  • Hands on experience using and driving advanced continuous improvement methods (TPM / Six Sigma / DMAIC/Project Management/Visual Management/ Pull Production System/Hijunka/) as a leader.
  • 5-7 years of minimum experience within manufacturing environment – low mix high volume preferred - through direct implementation of lean tools, process improvement, and functional process streamlining.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical field required.
  • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills: identifying opportunities, applying a disciplined approach to determine root cause, then creating and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Willingness to acquire Blackbelt certification through Flowserve Lean System as team member familiarizes himself/herself with the organizational business tools within agreed upon time frame.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong influencer and team player with good mentoring and coaching skills. With ability to motivate others.
  • Can facilitate, lead, and mentor others in kaizen and/or six sigma workshops.


Preferred experience/skills:

  • Project Management certification - from PMP – or experience leading several complex projects through PMP methodology is highly preferred.
  • Low volume and high mix and engineered/make-to-order experience
