Job Description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy has an opening for a Lead Training Specialist to work with their PATIENTS Program. The PATIENTS Program is an interdisciplinary research team of community partners and researchers housed at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy that works to change the way we think about research by creating a path for health equity in West Baltimore. The program uses development of quality measures, assessment methods, and patient reported outcome measures. The PATIENTS Program’s Lead Training Specialist engages a diverse variety of people in learning situations, applying adult learning theory in developing multifaceted modern learning solutions (such as instructor-led training and online educational programs). The Training Specialist is expected to function independently in delivering training and developing training materials and helping to assess its effectiveness. Solutions require considerable analysis and evaluation of various alternatives. Independently anticipates needs and requirements to resolve non-routine matters.   • Performs project management duties such as creating project work plans, establishing and monitoring goals and objectives, data management, and developing communications strategy to ensure successful implementation of training and coaching initiatives.
  • May supervise training staff as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: *Bachelors in Organizational Development, Business, Communications, Human Resources, or related field required. Bachelors in Management, Public Health or Master’s in related field preferred. *EXPERIENCE: *Five (5) years related training experience. At least three (3) years directly related to relevant training specialization. *Preferred SUPERVISORY:Prior work coordination, training, and daily oversight of staff, students, or volunteers preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to perform public speaking duties to present ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems.   • Serves as subject matter expert to less experienced staff.
  • Leads overall development, design, review, and modification of existing and new training curricula, training aids, and materials.
  • Leads reporting of all deliverables, efforts and progress.
  • Develops, recommends, modifies, and implements policies and procedures as it relates to training and coaching.
  • Establishes relationships/partnerships and collaborates with executive level external and internal stakeholders to assess and develop long implementation and training plans to ensure needs are effectively met.
  • *In collaboration with programmatic leadership, leads large scale and specialized consultation, training, and coaching efforts on a wide range of topics relevant to department programs. Identifies future coaching/training needs. Creates strategies to ensure sustainability and training is effectively translated into practice.
  • Performs operational duties such as monitoring training costs, acquiring, and implementing services offered by outside vendors.
