The Lead pharmacy technician will effectively support the successful implementation and execution of medication adherence programs and processes. He/she will provide support to the pharmacy staff to ensure applicable program processes and operational responsibilities are met. This position will also provide support in troubleshooting any member issues identified by the pharmacy staff during member outreach calls. The Lead Pharmacy Technician will also make outbound calls to members and physicians to improve medication adherence and close any care gaps related to medication adherence. Responsible for gathering prescription refill orders and providing excellent customer service.


Must work Central Time Zone hours.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete tasks to ensures daily, weekly and monthly productivity standards are met. Provide administrative support to staff and managers for special projects and reports
  • Exhibit excellent phone and communication skills while providing complete and accurate information to members. Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Assist with reporting functions of the department as requested by supervisor/manager. Conduct and participate in call auditing process and contribute to the overall call center quality improvement initiatives
  • Conduct inbound and outbound calls to/from members as necessary and assist with completing pending task queues. Receive and respond to escalated pharmacy inquiries from all communication venues: task queues, follow-up tasks, department’s documentation platform and call systems
  • Exhibits excellent phone and communication skills while providing complete and accurate information to members and staff. Requests additional or supplemental information via correspondence in order to complete the tasks
  • Serves as a team lead and role model for the pharmacy team and mentors’ new employees to the team as necessary
  • Acts as point of contact for process/workflow related questions in the absence of a supervisor. Assist the staff to ensure correct processes and procedure are followed and routinely give directions on how to improve
  • May assist with new hire training in putting together materials (job aids, screen shots, short video demonstrations, etc.) for reference within the Pharmacy team

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of administrative support experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work any shift between 8am-9pm CST with the possible inclusion of Saturdays in the future
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • 2+ years of Pharmacy or Medical Office experience (or combination of both)
  • Knowledge of medical/pharmacy terminology
  • 2+ years of Customer Care Experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medicare Part D knowledge
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and CMS
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration/Certification (Certified Pharmacy Technician _ CPhT)
  • Call center experience
  • PBM experience

  • Hs a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
