GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The purpose of this job is to perform paraprofessional, technical, and administrative work supporting the Project BUILD program as a team lead.

This job is performed under regular supervision of the Outreach Supervisor.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Plans and coordinates weekly group activities which includes spring and summer break activities;
  • Assists with the development and implementation of intervention plans for clients;
  • Work with youth and young adults, ages 14-21, and their families;
  • Connects youth to employment services and job opportunities;
  • Assists and conducts intake assessments and follows up with referrals;
  • Performs other related tasks as required.
  • Provides direct services to gang-involved clients and crisis response;
  • Functions in a lead role capacity and provides daily support and technical assistance to Project Build staff;
  • Works with youth participates to build job readiness skills;
  • Contacts and meets with partner agencies to support and advocate for program participants;
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with schools, employers, and other related program personnel;
  • Carry a regular caseload of 15-25 gang-involved program participants on an ongoing basis;
  • Provides assistance with leading intervention team meetings;

  • Ability to plan and execute work effectively;
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and team development activities;
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with program personnel and partners;
  • General knowledge of office methods and procedures;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of gang dynamics;
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • General knowledge and understanding of the issues facing gang involved youth and their families;


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related field and two years of experience working with gang involved youth; or demonstrated interest and experience working with youth.


SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • North Carolina Driver License Required
