JOB SUMMARY:


Receives, stocks and issues materials, supplies and equipment; labels all patient charge supplies, assists with physical inventory; performs proper inventory control processes; and assist with special projects.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:


  • Compares computer balances with periodic sampling checks of physical inventory and makes adjustments in inventory balances. *
  • Trains/orients department staff in warehouse functions, and user departments in computer stock requisition process. *
  • Prepares various reports, including daily zero list and fill rate reports; maintains records of additions, deletions, and changes to storeroom inventory, including preparation of shelf labels and row/bin location in computer. *
  • Supervises activities of the warehouse and supply distribution process, while actually performing all day to day activities as required. *
  • Assumes responsibility for inventories located at the warehouse/ storeroom, including preparation for and all responsibilities associated with year end inventory. *
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. *
  • Oversees general maintenance and cleanliness of assigned hospital vehicles; reports mechanical problems to Director and assures that vehicles are maintained. *
  • Using computer stock requisition process determine stock item pick list. Takes items from stock to fill requisitions and delivers goods to requesting department. Takes care in issuing correct measures and assures that all computer transactions are entered properly. *
  • Assures the cleanliness, aesthetics, safety, security, and maintenance of the warehouse, including the removal of cartons and boxes. *
  • Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information. Uses and discloses only that information which is necessary to perform the function of the job.
  • Performs related duties, as assigned.
  • Provides emergency back-up for all materials management inventory and distribution positions.
  • Makes scheduled and unscheduled deliveries to specific departments and/or nursing stations, including off-site locations. *
  • Keeps Director informed of current activities, major discrepancies with vendors or Hospital departments, and any significant changes.
  • Ensures security in the transport and storage of medications to include IV solutions.*
  • . Assist the Director, Materials Management with special projects.
  • Works with buyers and Director to coordinate requisitioning, ordering, distribution of materials and supplies. Controls ordering and requisitioning process to ensure inventory levels of supplies are in keeping with usage. *
  • Works with buyers concerning product changes and inventory problems. Informs Director of all products no longer being requested by users. *
  • Complies with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Responds to the following Shore Health System codes: Code Red (in the immediate area), Code Pink (if called), Code D (if called).


Qualifications


MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:


  • Valid Maryland driver's license. Demonstrated verbal and written communication, interpersonal, supervisory, and computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years of experience in stock, inventory control, and/or receiving, including at least one year of supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
