Job Description
Summary
Supervises staff of operations dispatchers. Works as dispatcher on an assigned shift at Lubbock International Airport's centralized Airport Operations Communication Center which includes security system management and emergency dispatch services. Acts as focal point and coordinating agent for all personnel assigned to, and interacting with airport staff. Responds to routine and emergency situations that occur or impact the airport operation. Responsible for scheduling and training, including the preparation and maintenance of all on-going dispatcher training programs.
Essential Functions
  • Document airport operational activities manually and electronically, for both emergency and routine activities;
  • Control a centralized communications center which includes monitoring and operating multiple computer systems for emergency and non-emergency situations involving Law Enforcement Agencies, Airport Operations, Maintenance, and Airport Fire and Rescue. Computer systems include two-way radio and voice communication consoles, fire alarm, runway surface sensor system, and CCTV system;
  • Research, develop, and conduct training related to dispatch operations at LIA, including development of any individual remedial training. Maintain all training documentation;
  • Perform related duties as required.
  • Review documentation, conduct appropriate level of training, and issue appropriate security badges in accordance with TSA Part 1542 requirements for all airport staff and tenants;
  • Monitor security system in compliance with TSA 1542; monitor alarm systems, closed circuit television monitors, radio scanners for incidents requiring police attention, and monitor the fire suppression system;
  • Perform building inspections to insure safety, security, cleanliness, and appropriate levels of operational standards;
  • Prepare and disseminate information concerning critical airfield conditions and hazards to the national airspace system via Notice-to-Airmen (NOTAM), and to airlines, tenants, operators, the ATCT and other airport divisions in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139;
  • Coordinate maintenance information and requests from airport tenants;
  • Act as the central coordination and communications center during airfield emergencies;
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of the airport through the 24-hour Airport Operations Communications Center providing first point of contact airport communications for airport agencies (Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting, Air Traffic Control Tower, emergency response organizations), and general public;
  • Make fast, accurate decisions which affect other public safety services and citizens;
  • Cover the Airport Dispatch schedule as needed and other duties as assigned;
  • Enter and update the notification system for service, for police, emergency medical service, fire, operations personnel, building maintenance, operations technicians, etc. into a computerized log;
  • Maintain accurate and complete log book entries and manual records of airport events;
  • Perform as a working supervisor for operations dispatcher staff, including scheduling and handling personnel issues;
Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one year of college coursework and two years of experience in a customer service environment and/or radio/police dispatching experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
TCOLE Telecommunications Operator License preferred or the ability to obtain within one year of employment
