Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator

Finley Buttes Landfill, a Waste Connections Company is currently hiring for a full time Year round Heavy Equipment Operator to work at our Landfill in Boardman, Oregon.

The Position:

We are looking for a safety minded Heavy Equipment Operator to join the team at our Finley Buttes Landfill location in Boardman, OR. Landfill Compactor or Bulldozer experience would be a huge plus!

Working Schedule will be Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm with occasional Saturdays as need be. Starting Wage is $24.15/HR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• A typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 5:30am-3:30pm with an occasional Saturday as needed, 45 hour work week.
• Performs routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.
• Ability to efficiently operate bulldozers, wheel loaders, excavator and off road dump trucks. Compactor experience preferred , but not required.
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment is required.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Basic knowledge of computer skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
