Job Description
The Laboratory Technician - Labeling is responsible for preparing and conducting a wide variety of laboratory tasks for the BioProduction department. The BioProduction department fulfills production orders to maintain the inventory of materials based on forecasted needs, manufactures products and ensures established protocols are followed and documented according to published SOPs in a manner that meets production schedules.
This position is in the Labeling Department. The Lab Technician performs a variety of procedures relating to the creation, printing, application and verification of labels and labeled materials. The incumbent must exercise excellent attention to detail, good judgement and technical proficiency under minimal supervision in a high throughput environment. The incumbent must comply with all of ATCC corporate policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Performs other ancillary duties as assigned.
  • Offers suggestions for and contributes to optimization of labeling.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisor and others as appropriate on work order status.
  • Applies labels to various container and vial types.
  • Adheres to appropriate quality guidelines.
  • Maintains local database for tracking purposes to ensure adherence to applicable timelines.
  • Provides input in the development of SOPs and departmental documentation.
  • Follows relevant SOPs and procedures under limited supervision.
  • Records data onto labeling forms.
  • Informs senior staff on levels of departmental supplies as appropriate.
  • Performs data entry into ERP system.
  • Creates and proofs labels according to written specifications.
  • Monitors laboratory equipment and reports issues if equipment is not functioning within appropriate specifications.
  • Recognizes key characteristics of labeling requirements and template requirements for the collections
  • Follows production order routings to complete daily operations in a timely manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of corporate and program policies and procedures.
  • Operates labeling equipment and label printer software.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma and 2-5 years' experience or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to function as a participant in a team environment
  • Applied knowledge of label template creation
  • Ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks to complete work order routings in a timely manner
  • Sound knowledge of labeling software and data entry
  • Ability to exercise judgment and make good decisions
