Department Summary

The UO Department of Human Physiology is home to undergraduate and graduate students who desire strong training in human physiology and anatomy that will prepare them for careers in medicine, allied health professions, and biomedical research.
The Motor Skills Lab uses behavioral and neurophysiological methods to understand the processes by which humans have the remarkable capacity to interact skillfully and dexterously with their environment. Current projects focus on understanding how humans learn, plan, and perform skilled dexterous behavior and how the brain encodes these processes. These questions are studied with a multimodal approach, combining biomechanical measures (e.g., kinetics and kinematics) with neurophysiological measures (e.g., fMRI, TMS).

Position Summary

The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the laboratory and conducting research studies. Specific roles will include organizing research materials, scheduling research meetings, recruiting human subjects, testing human subjects, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing reports of the research for dissemination. This will be a full-time, 12-month position that will report directly to Dr. Michelle Marneweck.
This position is ideal for candidates interested in motor neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, brain stimulation, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging. Given the scope of the project, we are looking for a highly conscientious individual with excellent communication, organizational, and coding skills.
