Job Description
Job Summary


We are seeking several Lab Interns for Summer. This internship opportunity will be in our Insulating Materials Laboratory at our corporate headquarters in Morrisville, NC. This is a great opportunity for students interested in chemistry and science to gain real world experience in a busy lab environment.


Essential Job Functions


  • The internship will be focused on testing insulating liquids and materials to determine physical, chemical and electrical properties according to ASTM, IEC, or internal methods.


Other job functions include:


  • Data validation and instrument quality control verification.
  • Abide by laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
  • Creativity and latitude is required and expected.
  • Interns will work under general supervision but with a high degree of independence once trained.
  • Prepare materials for laboratory examination and testing.


Qualifications


EDUCATION:


High school degree required, plus must be working towards college degree in chemistry, physics or biology, or related scientific field of study.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Test lab experience (high school or university lab experience is sufficient).
  • Experience with and knowledge about basic chemistry and safe work habits in a laboratory environment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:


  • Candidates must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must understand instructions in English and is English speaking.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Attentive and quick to pick up instructions.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use fax machines, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
