Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division is hiring a Kitchen Helper. The Kitchen Helper will provide support as needed for the Cook/Maintenance position to ensure that all camp personnel and visitors are afforded well balanced meals in a timely and efficient manner.


This is a seasonal position that will be needed from April 15th, 2023 - October 31, 2023.


This position is 20-40 hours per week. Expected pay is $13.50 per hour.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a positive manner; courteous treatment of staff, clients and visitors; respect of others’ property and person, professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates. Supports the Mission of The Salvation Army by treating every donor, contact and colleague with respect and dignity, and without discrimination of any kind.
  • Assist cook in preparation of meals.
  • Assist cook in serving of meals.
  • Clear tables and wipe down.
  • Vacuum floor in fellowship hall.
  • Straighten chairs around tables.
  • Load and operate dishwasher with supervision from kitchen staff.
  • Help keep kitchen area clean.
  • Assist in keeping the Community Meal a pleasant experience.
  • At all times you need to be courteous, respectful and helpful to all volunteers, clients, and employees.
  • And all other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibilities of this position.

Blood Bourne Pathogens Exposure Levels of Risk


Risk Level 1 - The tasks or activities conducted by Risk Level 1 workers would involve no expectation of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.


Working Conditions

There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients. The duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home.


Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk Level

Risk Level 1 - The tasks or activities conducted by Risk Level 1 would involve no known expectation of exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.


Physical Activities and Requirements of Position

Hearing

  • Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

  • Variety of Work; sitting approximately 10% of the time, with some prolonged standing, walking, bending, climbing
  • Exerts up to 30 pounds of force occasionally.

Travel

  • The incumbent may be required to travel by personal vehicle, organization vehicle or other mode of travel supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.

  • Average, ordinary, visual activity necessary to prepare or inspect documents.

  • Able to interpret various instructions.
