Job Description
Who We Are
FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Our AmeriCorps members serve alongside educators and school nutrition leaders to provide kids with nourishing meals, food education, and culturally affirming experiences with food that celebrate and nurture the whole child. Building on this direct service, FoodCorps advocates for policy change, grows networks, and develops leaders in service of every kid’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school!
What We’re Looking For
FoodCorps seeks an exceptionally motivated candidate to manage a portfolio of school district partnerships that are delivering upon local goals for growing student access to nourishing school meals and hands-on food education. Reporting to the Regional Director, this position is responsible for leading the selection, support, and management of FoodCorps partnerships. As the key representative and relationship-holder for FoodCorps at the local level, the Partnerships Lead works closely with nonprofit partners, district administrators, and the school communities to support food education and meal program investments in the state.
This full-time position will have the ability to be remote within the state of Kentucky. Both statewide and national travel will be required, up to 20%.
Who You Are
You are passionate about FoodCorps’ mission and have a demonstrated dedication to food justice and racial equity. You excel at developing partnerships that center on delivering adaptable and impactful programming to students and schools. You cultivate relationships that are grounded in shared goals and a deep understanding of the assets of partner communities in order to support sustained impact.
You are engaged with local and state networks related to health equity, food justice, farm to school and/or education. You are familiar with the challenges faced by schools and districts situated in historically marginalized communities. You have experience leading teams and supporting new, emerging leaders. You approach this work with an equity lens, honoring the expertise and lived experience of local community leaders.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Elevate stories of local impact and leadership to internal and external partners and serve as FoodCorps spokesperson for media and fundraising opportunities
  • Work with sites on strategy for local recruitment pipeline development for candidates that are reflective on the children we serve
  • Manage effective and impactful program delivery in FoodCorps partnerships statewide
  • In partnership with the National Policy Team, support relationship building with congressional offices and state and local elected officials, where applicable
  • Build or sustain relationships within key local and state networks, associations, agencies, and community groups related to school nutrition and food education
  • Supervise, and support the development of a FoodCorps Program Coordinator who is directly responsible for coordinating AmeriCorps Service Members
  • Distribute advocacy tools and resources to support the activation of FoodCorps’ local network of partners and alumni
  • Actively contribute to partner goals through participation in community events related to food education, school meals, and food systems work
  • Develop a strong strategy for FoodCorps programming and services across the state in connection to regional and national strategies
  • Build and support a set of mission-aligned partnerships, including implementation of an annual and multi-year goal-setting process, service planning, and ongoing data collection
Measures Of Success
By the end of Year 1, the Impact and Partnership Lead will have:
  • Supported the state coordinator through a successful year of program delivery and professional growth by providing clear direction and mentorship
  • Articulated a long-term strategy for engagement in the state, grounded in FoodCorps’ national goals related to policy, broad reach, and community-based programming
  • Collaborated with school district and community partners to develop multi-year partnership plans that ensure alignment of programming towards shared goals
  • Identified key policy initiatives at the state and national levels, and shared at least two storytelling opportunities that connect local work to FoodCorps’ national policy goals
  • Reviewed and closely supervised progress toward stated multi-year goals, making strategic adjustments in programming and partnership supports accordingly
  • Assessed existing and prospective school district partnerships across the state to determine readiness for multi-year partnership
  • Developed a strong service member recruitment plan, including working with community partners to understand their needs and cultivate inclusive pipelines of local leaders that reflect the children we serve
