About The Role
As a Junior Underwriter, you'll leverage your understanding of credit underwriting guidelines to evaluate submitted files. Your responsibilities will encompass assessing debt-to-income ratios, income viability, credit history, and more, all while adhering to Splash's credit policies and specific partner guidelines. In your role, you'll contribute to fair lending practices, ensuring efficiency without compromising customer satisfaction. You'll analyze intricate financial documents, offering solutions to help customers refinance their student loans. Collaboration is key, as you'll engage with internal and external stakeholders, including Customer Service Reps, Operations Associates, lending partners, and vendors.

Your Responsibilities At Splash
Conduct credit underwriting and income analysis.
Analyze complex borrower documentation to assess income, repayment capacity, and potential hardship.
Employ specialized tools, systems, and processes to ensure compliance with requirements.
Stay informed about Splash's underwriting best practices and partner program guidelines.
Uphold Splash Financial's Fair Lending practices and regulatory standards.
Review loan underwriting documentation for compliance with partner requirements.
Evaluate intricate financial data, including income calculations, debt ratios, asset verification, and credit reviews.
Tackle challenging issues with innovative solutions and communicate findings effectively.
Stay updated on credit policy changes affecting underwriting.
Demonstrate exceptional customer service.
Apply technical expertise and strong communication skills.
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Exceed productivity, quality, and turnaround time goals.
Prioritize tasks effectively and ensure accurate loan decisions aligned with program specifications.
Your Qualifications
Based in Cleveland, OH (preferred).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in credit underwriting or loan processing for various loan types.
Proficiency in personal and business financial analysis, including tax return and balance sheet assessments.
Strong understanding of general underwriting practices.
Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
College Degree In Business Or Equivalent Work Experience (preferred).
Advanced knowledge of consumer credit reports.
Intermediate to expert MS Excel skills, including macros and pivot tables.
Familiarity with financial services industry tools, systems, and requirements.
Deep commitment to customer service.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Track record of successful teamwork with colleagues and external partners.
