Job Description
Summary:
The Junior Systems Engineer position provides technical support for a wide variety of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf software) and custom developed applications for a federal financial government agency. The individual must be able to quickly learn applications from both a technical and functional perspective and articulate the ongoing issues, their potential root cause, and the planned or implemented solutions to a broad spectrum of audiences including the supporting resources, executive management personnel, and customers. This individual must be able to analyze problems and take accountability for the solution provided.

Required Skills:

  • Experience understanding, creating, and updating documentation.
  • Due to federal requirements, the selected candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • 1+ years work experience in Systems Engineering
  • Ability to coordinate between internal and external departments, outside vendors and across teams to reach an issue resolution.
  • Ability to debug issues based on documentation and logs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree – 4 additional years’ work experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Thorough in following procedures and documenting work activities.
  • Basic understanding of relational database technologies, software development, testing, and IT technology.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff, both technical as well as functional / business staff members.

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to learn and operate in a high-volume setting.
  • ITIL, AWS, and other relevant certifications/experience are a plus.
  • Experience with reporting application tools, metrics gathering/reporting.
  • Process-focused and able to create and manage new and revised processes.
  • Working knowledge of Development methodologies such as Agile.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (MS Suite), and other documentation tools.
