Job Description
Overview


As the Junior Software Developer, you will be responsible for learning the codebase, working on small bug fixes, and participating in paired programming with mid-level and senior developers. You will also be responsible for attending and contributing to development team meetings, troubleshooting, patching computer code, and collaborating with other developers to create applications. This is an entry level position where larger and/or more complex projects are assigned as programming skills are developed. To excel in this role, you must have: a working knowledge of programming language; familiarity with code versioning tools such as GIT; and the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.


Responsibilities


Perform program maintenance, modifications, and enhancements to new/existing systems through programming, testing, documenting, and training users under senior guidance. Confer with user personnel and department representatives in resolving questions of program/system intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, and inclusion of internal checks and controls under senior guidance. Responsible for learning Company systems and how they are automated. Provide on-call programming support. Provide integration testing support to internal and external customers. Communicate and work as needed with any internal/external customers in conjunction with a senior developer, engineer, lead, or manager. Ensure adherence to the Company’s analysis and development standards. Follow development team defined analysis and development best practices.


Qualifications


For this role, previous experience with Information Technology (IT) application development and an Associate Degree or equivalent experience is required (this could include coding boot camps, projects, or relevant work experience). We prefer you to have previous experience with Java, Cobol, HTML, SQL, C++, previous experience using Jira or other Service Management Software, and previous experience with Oracle.
