The Junior Business Analyst will work in the Health, Environmental and Regulatory Systems (HEARS) department to support new and existing applications. The incumbent will be expected to research, gather, and understand complex business domain requirements from subject matter experts while serving as a liaison between business and technical teams. The incumbent will gather and communicate business requirements to the IT staff and ensure project goals are appropriately satisfied.

Essential Functions

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with product delivery team(s) to define, develop, and implement products that support Environmental, Health, Safety and Regulatory global business units.
  • Facilitate an open line of communication with developers, programmers, and designers in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications through the refinement of user stories.
  • Lead or participate in Agile Product Teams.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.
  • Assists with the design of the HEARS software architecture to ensure accuracy, reliability, consistency, and efficiency so that the HEARS applications share common code, eliminate, or reduce redundancy, encapsulate algorithms, etc.

Operational Management

  • Gather/document requirements for domestic and global software systems.
  • Participate in software design reviews, sprint reviews, or sprint retrospectives.
  • Available to consult, troubleshoot or otherwise assist with any HEARS software or system issue.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and correction of system issues and software bugs.

Incidental Functions

  • Prepare presentations as requested.
  • Research or prototype new tools and/or technologies.
  • Assist with other projects as necessary to contribute to efficiency and effectiveness of the teamwork.
  • Participate in internal teams/task forces on initiatives as assigned.
  • Minimal travel as required.
  • Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday may be required.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification

  • Associate Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 6 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business).

Knowledge & Experience

  • 0-1 year of IT and/or Business experience.
  • 0-1 year of business analyst experience in IT related systems.
  • Exposure to or understanding of project management and business process mapping.
