Job Description

Junior/Mid SQL Database Administrator

Summary

Seeking an enthusiastic and driven IT professional to join the Database Administration team in the role of Junior SQL Server Database Administrator. As part of the Database Administration team, the individual will be responsible for new SQL server installations, SQL high availability environments, SQL replication solutions, performance tuning, SQL backups, restore, and disaster recovery. The individual will monitor the databases, perform maintenance, patching, upgrades, assign and manage database user access according to company policies.

This position’s job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Experience with SQL high availability environments such as SQL Always On and clustering.
  • Test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
  • Experience a plus supporting third party replication tools such as AWS Data Migration Services (DMS) and Golden Gate
  • User administration and database security
  • Documentation of the SQL database environment
  • Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors.
  • Interacting with other infrastructure team members, business partners and external vendors
  • Experience with backup and restore.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon and Azure.
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues and performance tuning.
  • Install and configure new SQL Servers based on architectural reviews and specifications.
  • Customer Service and communication skills

Experience should include:

  • SQL Monitoring Tools
  • SQL Database security
  • Candidate should have minimum of 3 years database administration experience.
  • Amazon AWS EC2 and RDS
  • SQL versions 2012 and up, including all edition levels from Express to Enterprise.
  • High Availability/Windows Failover cluster/SQL Always On environments
  • Change Management Process and Ticketing System
