The Need


IJM’s Creative team is adding a Jr. Editor & Filmmaker to provide multimedia content execution support on campaign, content created ideas, and experience initiatives across the North America region to catalyze a revolution in North America that fuels the movement and raises awareness of IJM’s work to rescue millions, protect half a billion and makes justice for the poor unstoppable.


By partnering with and supporting leadership on the North American Regional team, the US and Canadian leadership teams, the Jr. Editor & Filmmaker ensures that IJM North America’s creative and experience initiatives are brought to market with excellent video storytelling through elite editing and filmmaking insight.


This position requires fresh editing approach and a love for editing and proven success in creating meaningful edits for projects (all social platforms, long forms on YouTube, Vimeo, etc) that elevates IJM’s brand, serves the organization's programmatic needs, and summarizes IJM’s stories through editing. The Content Creator will manifest through editing concepts that were ideated and shot and deliver compelling video content that deeply connects people to IJM’s mission and moves them to action. This position will involve consistent editing of footage and innovation on filmic storytelling to engage audiences on social media and breakthrough market challenges. This position requires a fundamental knowledge in storytelling.


Compensation range: $50,000 to $60,000/year


This position will office in the Washington D.C. area or may be remotely based in the US and reports to the Director, Creative, North America. Recruitment contact: Kirsten Caudill.


Responsibilities


  • Video Equipment and Media Management: This position will understand media management from shoot to edit and delivery of video projects. Working across physical hard drives, cloud-based storage, and media management systems to protect, backup, and manage IJM’s video library. This position will also organize and upkeep all editing equipment for production; and
  • Content Production: video coordination, workflow, logistics, and planning for editing productions with knowledge of all stages of film development from ideation through delivery of film content. Manage multiple video editing projects on various budgets with excellent communication across countries and processes;
  • Content Creation: This position will deliver exceptional editing in video services to support campaign initiatives that move the hearts and minds of audiences. Manage, coordinate, and support video production for the organization’s content needs varying from social media, event coverage, documentaries, scripted narratives, promotional videos, and more. This position will also collaborate and coordinate with freelance videographers for content creation;
  • Data Informed, User focused Innovation: Implement latest and editing video and story trends across film content to keep IJM fresh and top-of-mind for North America audience. Adapt and implement changes to increase responsiveness to creative based on data.


Requirements:


  • International and/or cross-cultural working experience;
  • Proven ability to work with teams cross-culturally.
  • Ability to be a one-person film crew or lead a multi-faceted film production crew;
  • BA/BS degree in Film, Advertising, Communications;
  • 2+ years of experience as an editor in ad agency, film or video production company;
  • Knowledge of video editing and production software and tools, Adobe Creative Suite on Mac platform;
  • International and domestic Film Production Planning; and
