Jr. Cloud Database Administrator
Summary:
The Jr. Cloud Database Administrator (CDBA) is a junior-level database engineer with knowledge and experience as it relates to data & database services. The Jr. CDBA will support projects, offer consultation & customer service, offer support regarding technology, support production releases & deliver results daily. As well, the Jr. CDBA will actively support, maintain, report, & monitor all related production & non-production systems, while assuring high availability, scalability, & recovery through the means of systems & automation. The Jr. CDBA will maintain cloud efficiency, cost awareness, security, access management, & an effective learning schedule.
Experience:
- 1+ years of experience supporting production environments
- 6+ months of experience working with cloud environments
- 1+ years of experience servicing data & SQL database solutions
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
Licenses & Certificates:
- DP900 – Data Fundamentals (or) AZ900 – Azure Fundamentals
- Desired – Azure Certificates or Cloud Equivalent
Job Responsibilities:
- Configure database authentication & authorization
- Work with ingest & transformation of data, batch processing, & stream processing
- Implement high availability & disaster recovery
- Identify & Implement performance-related maintenance issues & tasks
- Manage & develop stored procedures, SQL Agent Jobs, & SSIS packages
- Monitor data storage & data processing, optimize & troubleshoot
- Deploy resources using manual & automated methods
- Configure resources for scale & performance
- Review database table & index design
- Manage HA, replication, backups, availability groups, listeners, failover, & tools
- Leverage T-SQL to examine system health, database configuration, back & restore
- Implement physical data storage structures & logical data structures
- Tests backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
- Implement security for data at rest, data in transit, & compliance for sensitive data
- Review query plans & evaluate performance improvements
- Manage batches & pipelines, database CI/CD & pipelines
- Implement & create scheduled tasks, alerts & notification strategy, & automation jobs
Technical Skills:
- Scripting language experience: T-SQL, ARM, CFT, PowerShell, Python, C#, Bash
- SQL Clusters, Always-On Groups, & Replication
- DB Automation & CI/CD Practices
- Knowledge of Scalability Sets, Availability Groups, Zones, & Regions
- Experience with SSRS and SSIS preferred
- SQL Jobs, Server Health, & Log Shipping
- Platform experience: GitHub, Artifactory, Azure, AWS, Google, Redgate, SQL, Linux, Windows
- Leverage cloud technology (reporting, logging, analytics, services, functions, dashboards, queries, & access management)
- Knowledge of remediating security findings, setting exceptions, & defining policy
- Cloud knowledge of Azure Modern Data Warehouse Services, Managed Instances, Reservations, Data Factory, Power BI, Blob Storage, SQL DB, Synapse Analytics, & Integration Runtime
- Database Backups, Encryption, & Security
- Knowledge of: vNets, Subnets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, Private Links, DNS Zones, Route Tables, Access Lists, Firewall Settings, & AD Integration
