The School of Human Resources and Labor Relations seeks senior candidates whose primary interests and expertise focus on the evolution and future of work and how the human experience at work is being transformed. The workplace is being shaped by multiple actors and forces. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, workers are demanding more flexibility from employers and a new social contract that provides them with more control over their work. Greater workforce diversity is forcing employers to adjust their employment practices in ways that emphasize equity and inclusion. In addition, work is being designed in new ways, new technologies are enhancing some occupations while degrading others, new forms of employee voice are emerging, and skill demands are changing.

This position presents an opportunity for someone who would like to join and lead a newly formed interdisciplinary consortium of MSU faculty across the social sciences, engineering, media and information, education, and management departments working together to elevate research on work across Michigan State University.

Instructional responsibilities include teaching in our signature Master of Human Resources & Labor Relations program, our doctoral program and at the undergraduate level.

Minimum Requirements

We seek applicants with an outstanding record of research and scholarship excellence on one or more of the above broadly defined issues related to work. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in employment relations, human resource management, organizational behavior, sociology, economics, I/O psychology, information systems, or a related discipline.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding to support one's research agenda is an advantage.
