We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Bank - Payment Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with team and provide new enhancement work estimation to lead.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
  • Availability for production support incident/SME support as required.
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages
  • Any version control management software such as Subversion, GIT, Jira, Quality Center knowledge is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Spring MVC, Junit, Mockito, solid understanding of REST principles and hands-on experience is required. Reactive Spring, Gemfire or equivalent and Cassandra (Distributed DB architecture) awareness is a plus.
  • Sound understanding of JavaScript programming language, its quirks, browser agnostic coding, blazing fast performance, HTML5, CSS3 and JS code coverage automation is required.
  • Hands on experience with SpringBoot, Netty or Tomcat server is required including JVM/profiling tuning is required.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
  • Knowledge of any NoSQL DB such as Elastic-Search, Cassandra will be a plus.
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Exposure to cloud technologies (AWS) will be a plus.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
  • UI/UX developer hands on and familiar with modern JS frameworks - Ember JS, React JS, Angular JS or equivalent is required.
  • D3 experience will be a plus.
  • Experience with JS automation not limited to Grunt or equivalent is preferred.
