Job Description

*Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000*

Overview:


The Jail Diversion Program Director provides leadership, clinical direction and operational oversight to JDP programs and Training and Technical Assistance Center for Co-Response.


This position will require in-person work within Massachusetts and will supervise over 30 clinicians and program managers and trainers who support police departments in 33 towns within Massachusetts.


Ideal candidates will hold a Masters or Doctoral degree in psychology, social work or a closely related field and will hold current independent licensure. LICSW candidates are preferred, but will consider LMHC candidates as well. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of clinical, operations and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that people receiving services and staff are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates Human Rights Policy.
  • Participate in regular PES supervisors’ meetings.
  • Participate in statewide provider meetings for networking and program improvement opportunities.
  • Manage and maintain overall administrative, fiscal and clinical functions for each Jail Diversion Program and oversee the Training and Technical Assistance Center.
  • Manage grant applications, reporting and data requests.
  • Stay abreast of innovative and emerging practices that are related to community policing.
  • Act as liaison to police departments utilizing co-response clinicians.
  • Provide on-call availability to program staff as needed for consultation.
  • Seek and create opportunities to collaborate across divisions.
  • Liaison to other community providers and related agencies and develop community resources, as needed.
  • Present jail diversion data and practices to funders and present at conferences related to behavioral health and criminal justice.
  • Provide focused leadership, support and supervision to program staff.
  • Ensure that clinical services are being delivered in accordance with Advocates clinical philosophy, The Advocates Way and all licensing and regulatory bodies in coordination with Behavioral Health Leadership and Quality Management Teams.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming, trauma informed, culturally sensitive environment and treatment approach.
  • Develop and expand the number of co-reponse programs statewide.
  • Responsible for clinical programming of services in coordination with the PES Leadership and Quality Management teams to ensure that performance specifications and grant requirements are being achieved.
  • Consult to emerging programs statewide and nationally.
  • Actively engage in Quality Management activities to continuously explore and improve delivery of services and streamline systems.
  • Adhere to all principles related to the Advocates Way.


Qualifications:

  • Masters or doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field with a minimum of five years of clinical, operational, and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent supervisory, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Psychology or eligibility to secure licensure within first year of employment.
  • Must have working knowledge of current version of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Strongly prefer that a candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Current Massachusetts independent practice licensure in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology or eligibility to secure licensure within first year of employment.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Strong assessment and interviewing skills.
