Job Description
Overview:
Paid IT Internship - Summer 2023

$17.00 per hour, up to 29 hours per week.

Listed below are the preferred skills for the IT Intern. While not all the skills are required to obtain the position, they are areas that the Intern will gain valuable experience in as time progresses working in this role. It is important for the applicant to have a strong desire to learn to obtain this unique Intern opportunity. The intern will be assigned hands-on learning projects relating to day-to-day activities of the department to ensure a safety, healthy, and incident-free work environment. The intern must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have good communication skills.

Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc. located in Anniston, Alabama has a century of success in manufacturing and selling ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes for the waterworks industry.

All candidates offered employment must submit to a drug screen, physical, and background check.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical skills:
o Knowledge of Windows 7/10 Professional Operating Systems.
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
o Workstation/Laptop hardware troubleshooting and configuration.
o Understanding of network printing using Microsoft print services.
o Understanding of Local Area Networks (LAN).
o Understanding of Wide Area Networks (WAN).
o Understanding of telecommunications (VoIP) services.
  • Interpersonal skills:
o Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills.
o Ability to conduct research into PC and application issues.
o Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail.
o Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
o Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
o Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work conditions:
o Sitting for extended periods of time.
o Standing for long periods of time while troubleshooting or installing devices.
o Crawling under desks to install equipment.
o Climbing ladders to install or inspect cables.

Physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body include climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, and handling tools and materials. Must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
Qualifications:
  • Must be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in IT, IS, MIS, CIS or related field.
  • Must have a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must have positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Must be at least a Sophomore in college
  • Must be flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have good communication skills.
