Job Description

IT Intern

This position is unpaid and is for internship or volunteership. You may use these hours gained towards school credit.


Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and customer-oriented IT Intern to join our team. As the IT Intern, you will be the go-to person for troubleshooting technical issues on behalf of both volunteers and staff members. Your primary responsibilities will include providing support and assistance with tech problems, ensuring a seamless and efficient technology environment. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in organizing and maintaining digital company spaces. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the IT team to address complex technical issues and participate in IT projects.
  • Organize and maintain digital company spaces, including shared drives and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain an inventory of company IT assets, including computers, peripherals, and software licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Ensure that company data and information are appropriately organized, backed up, and accessible to authorized personnel.
  • Provide remote IT support for off-site staff or volunteers as required.
  • Create and update IT documentation, including user guides and manuals.
  • Provide guidance and step-by-step instructions to users to resolve problems effectively.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend upgrades or improvements to enhance IT infrastructure and user experience.
  • Respond to IT support requests from volunteers and staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff and volunteers to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Implement and enforce IT security protocols to safeguard company data and information.
  • Ensure all systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure adequate supply of IT equipment and accessories.
  • Assist users with setting up and configuring hardware and software applications.


Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Understanding of IT security best practices to protect company data and systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing technology and business needs.
  • Patience and empathy in dealing with users' technical difficulties.
  • Adaptability:
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Knowledge of Google applications and other common software.
  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain digital company spaces and manage IT assets.
  • Proven experience in providing IT support or a similar technical role.
  • Analytical and logical thinking to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
