Day (United States of America)The BILH Clinical Informatics Team is responsible for clinical content consensus, workflow design, build implementation and eventual optimization of the Beth Israel Lahey Health system-wide electronic health record (EHR). Under the direction of the Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO), the Informatics team supports and enhances connections between clinical stakeholders, business operations, Information Systems, the Epic Application Teams, and Epic (Wisconsin). All informaticians will adhere to a vision of leveraging technology and data to deliver knowledge in the right way, at the right time, to the right caregiver, within the clinical workflow to enable safe, high quality, and efficient patient care, and will work to optimize both clinician and provider experience in their interactions with the EHR. Informatics team members will have primary domain(s) of responsibility, and will participate in and moderate domain-specific clinical content workgroups. They will guide the development of all EHR tools used in that domain, working collaboratively across domains as needed. They will provide clinical subject matter expertise to inform build decisions, and technical fluency in the Epic application that enables them to collaborate with the Epic Application Teams in making build decisions, as well as Epic (Wisconsin) regarding development enhancements to the product. They will serve as a liaison and ambassador for the EHR broadly, facilitating conversations with subject matter experts, and guiding training and communication content. Each informaticist will have a set of clinical domains that they are assigned at the outset of the project; assigned clinical domains may however evolve over the course of the project.:
1. Provides subject matter expertise to inform EHR design, development, and maintenance, translating clinical needs/issues into EHR build and IT optimization opportunities.
2. Convenes, leads, and coordinates groups of subject matter experts as needed and assigned to support clinical content/build development, coordination, maintenance and archiving for BILH.
3. Serves as Clinical Business Owner for their assigned domain(s) in pertinent clinical and revenue cycle application team(s).
4. Coordinates with team members to ensure that Epic build/content meets functional, workflow and process requirements, and to prevent redundancy and/or conflict across clinical domains and user groups.
5. Participates in the development of strategic EHR initiatives and related solutions that fit the organization‘s needs, inclusive of analytics needs.
6. Provides strategic input, for the design, development, operation and support of clinical IT systems that fulfill the needs of the business, end-users, and patients.
7. Collaborates with the full BILH informatics team, site clinical and operational leads, clinical site champions, and site informatics teams, BILH Epic application teams, and Epic (Wisconsin).
8. Acts as an IT and EHR ambassador and champion with the responsibility of supporting clinical and operational goals, end-user training and optimization, EHR optimization, etc.
9. Performs other responsibilities as determined by the CHIO
Required Qualifications:
1. RN, Registered Nurse License
2. 3 - 5 Years: 1-3 years of active clinical practice and 1-3 years experience in health information technology including clinical informatics experience in a hospital/health care system
3. Thorough knowledge of EHRs and other clinical systems in healthcare settings. Deep understanding of existing clinical workflows within the various clinical settings.
4. Highly respected within their clinical field, trustworthy, approachable and ability to collaborate successfully with various levels of staff and professionals. Aptitude to successfully drive change and manage resistance.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. “Power user” or clinician builder Epic training desired (builder training required upon hire if not previously completed)
