IT Business Analyst | Corporate Solutions

Location: 5000 Kansas Avenue Kansas City, KS 66106

Department: Information Technology

Work Environment: Remote/Hybrid

AWG is in search of the best IT Business Analysts to support our strategic, business-transformation projects in IT service and support. This role assists with the prioritization of needs and serves as a liaison between AWG employees, vendors and retailers that use AWG’s merchandising systems and applications. This role will work closely with leadership and internal customers as we reshape our application portfolio using business process understanding, appreciation for simplicity and quality, critical thinking, and determination to craft solutions that exceed business and technology objectives. The IT Business Analyst will be part of a team that is responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and supporting a wide variety of solutions with the assistance of other teams within the IT organization. In this role, you will “know the business better than the business” through a diligence of learning and documentation combined with an in-depth knowledge of the systems being used.

Responsibilities:

Business Analysis (30%)

  • Elicits and translates business requirements via requirements gathering sessions and documents business requirements using appropriate formats for assigned initiatives/projects, quality improvements, service enhancements, cost reductions, and productivity increases .
  • Conduct research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within or outside the business unit, and if not, whether new solutions are feasible.

Documentation (20%)

  • Develop use cases/stories to explain/demonstrate business requirements/specifications to IT and business stakeholders and incorporate business partner’s perspective during design reviews.
  • Create business requirements documents, sequence diagrams, process diagrams and other related documentation to ensure project continuity and success.

Communication/Team Dynamics (20%)

  • Provide input to the development of formal business cases when enterprise-wide business solutions are proposed.
  • Communicate priorities to the technology organization to drive effective business solutions.
  • Ensure consensus among stakeholders and project team members
  • Build and manage strong relationships within the user community and IT.

Testing, Evaluation and Training (20%)

  • Train the business community when necessary.
  • Lead test plan and test script development, as well as test execution activities.
  • Translate business requirements and processes into application usage and configuration.

Strategy and vision (10%)

  • Drive the development of process and functional documentation.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed solutions across the business and application landscape.
  • Help shape the vision of longer-term business requirements and business initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Expert facilitation skills to lead groups through structured information/requirements gathering.
  • Experience providing excellent oral and written communication to a diverse audience.
  • Experience working in a multi-team, Information Technology organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proven experience within responsibilities listed above.
  • Experience working as a business analyst in full SDLC for software projects.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized.
  • Experience creating swim lane process diagrams and structured, clear requirements documentation methods.
  • Consulting or professional services experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT related Field or relevant work experience.
  • Merchandising, CPG industry or retail experience

Great-to-haves but not deal breakers:

  • Experience using SQL.
  • Strong data and business process modeling skills.
  • Experience in retail, supply chain, or grocery industry.
