Job Description

Serves as an Inventory Management Specialist. Performs a variety of functions pertaining to inventory control, ordering, receiving; control over supplies, equipment, and other material; requirement determinations; acquisition and distribution; coordination of automated records and control systems; intra-agency deliveries; linen distribution; and intra agency office moves. Coordinates and maintains the automated inventory management system and conducts continual review and replenishment of stock items to the storerooms and wards. Makes adjustments to the automated inventory control system on a regular basis and as a result of the annual inventory count. Determines supply requirements and distribution of supplies based on existing inventories. Participates in all phases of the development and administration of the inventory control program. Utilizes the DIFS and PASS system to depict the proper and accurate contract balance. Analyzes hospital inventory usage to determine appropriate stock levels and reorder times. Conducts annual inventory count; enters purchases orders and contracts; oversees deliveries to the hospital and inspects delivered goods.

Qualifications

Position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position to the filled, and has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Work Experience

Experience providing a broad range of knowledge of inventory management techniques and principles as they apply to a hospital or inpatient facility.

Duration of Appointment: Permanent

This position IS in the collective bargaining unit and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through an automatic payroll deduction

Work Environment

Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

Tour of Duty: 8:15 am – 4:45 pm

Position Designation: This position is deemed as “Safety Sensitive” pursuant to Section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
