About the Department

The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk’s Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global. We’re looking for individuals who are enterprise thinkers, inclusive leaders, and strong collaborators, as we embark on shaping our future.


The Program

At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to kick-start their careers by working closely with experienced industry professionals and gaining valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten weeks, beginning June 5th, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, career presentations by senior leadership, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.

In addition to individual department responsibilities, interns will participate in the Innovation in Action Case Competition. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative and comprehensive solution to a business problem currently facing Novo Nordisk. At the conclusion of the program, teams will present their findings to a board of top Novo Nordisk officials representing the various lines of business.


The Position

The enterprise strategy summer intern will assist in developing long term strategies and plans for NNI's business to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing health care system, and to capitalize on future growth opportunities. The intern will research and analyze market trends, and will meet with NNI leaders to understand NNI capabilities. The intern will develop slides and presentations to communicate analysis, insight, and recommendations on key opportunities and challenges facing the business over the the 3-5 year horizon. This work will be done in a highly collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn
  • Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers
  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline preferred
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task
  • Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail
