Job Description

NASA has been charged with establishing sustainable exploration and presence on the Moon by the end of the decade and then sending astronauts on to Mars. Stellar’s team is helping NASA make this ambitious challenge a reality by directly supporting their efforts to develop our nation’s future exploration systems as a collaboration between NASA, industry, and academia.


Stellar Solutions seeks a motivated self-starting and innovative engineering or technical major candidate to join our team to support NASA Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD) at Headquarters in Washington, D.C.


You will be mentored by top industry experts while you apply your education to satisfy Stellar Solutions’ customers' critical needs in systems engineering and integration, mission operations, program management, and strategic planning for our commercial partners, and government customers.


We seek Summer 2023 Interns with the following experience and interests


  • Systems engineering and integration
  • Risk identifcation and management
  • Engineering design and development
  • Project management, planning, and scheduling
  • Strategic planning and analysis


Required Qualifications


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems
  • Travel to nearest NASA Center is required to obtain company badge and possibly IT equipment
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (engineering or other technical)
  • Highly reliable self-starter, can be counted on to complete assignments
  • Collaborates easily with others and works well independently as part of a virtual team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and building/managing spreadsheets
  • US Citizenship required


Desired Skills And/or Experience


  • Experience in spacecraft design and development
  • Experience interfacing with external stakeholders and customers
  • Experience or proficient in MS Project and/or similar scheduling applications
  • Proficiency in identifying and assessing technical program risks


This internship can be accomplished via remote work, though travel to NASA HQ for specific ESDMD customer activities may be required; travel expenses will be paid by Stellar Solutions. The pay rate for summer intern positions is USD $28 per hour.


Weekly, quarterly, and end of internship project assessments and reporting of experiences and gaining knowledge.
