Job Description
Position Function
This position is intended for youth with an interest in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields. The employee will gain practical experience through working closely with professionals in a scientific discipline.
Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
Salary Grade : UC

Department Profile
This position is located at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, MS.
Area Of Specialization
Agriculture and natural rescources
Anticipated Appointment Date
June 2023.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The employee will assist research and Extension activities as directed by the supervisor. Tasks may include but are not limited to:
  • Analyzing data and preparing presentations.
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Operating and managing equipment and supplies used in research experiments and Extension programs; and
  • Collecting and processing samples.
  • Conducting and maintaining experiments in field, greenhouse, and laboratory settings.
  • Supporting Extension events and developing multimedia resources.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicants must be between ages 16-22; if under 18, written permission from school administration (if during school hours) and from a parent/guardian is required.
  • Applicants must be interested in agriculture, natural resources, and related fields.
  • Applicants must consistently follow instructions, work responsibly, and be trustworthy.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
The specific work schedule will depend on the age of the employee, the time of year (during/outside school year), and whether this employment will be part of a work-based learning program at a school/college. The employee will be limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
The employee will work in non-hazardous conditions. Physical requirements will vary by supervisor.
