Job Description
Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence, Science and Technology Directorate, Charlottesville, Advanced Conventional Weapons Division, VA 22911. Responsibilities Serves as an intelligence analyst with responsibility for production of finished scientific and technical (S and T) intelligence analysis within the Advanced Conventional Weapons Division Determines the characteristics of current foreign military systems and predicts future capabilities and battlefield effectiveness of such systems. Develops projects to produce targeted intelligence products such as forecasts and capabilities assessments or major inputs to broad weapon system or technology studies. Provides recommendations to the supervisor on utilization of analytical resources for assigned specialty area. Provides timely, authoritative, and sound advice and recommendations on assigned intelligence specialty area through the chain of command. Regularly represents the Center and/or the Army on intelligence community working groups and committees. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-05 grade level in the Federal service that includes open source research, vetting, and analyzing information to make sound engineering judgments on armored vehicle platforms and associated technologies. Applies data and analysis to develop intelligence products, models and simulations using computer aided design and engineering software to evaluate system capabilities and performance. The Engineering and Physical Sciences families have specific educational requirements in addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements above, you must also meet the specific educational requirements for the series that you apply for in order to be considered for this position. The requirements for each series are described in the occupational questionnaire. Transcripts that support these requirements MUST be submitted at the time of application. Note: Education must have been completed in a U.S. college, university, or other educational institution that has been accredited by one of the accrediting agencies or associations recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
