Job Description
This position is responsible for investigating and settling vehicle accident claims over the phone and through written correspondence. This level of adjuster will handle 1st and 3rd party claims that require complex coverage and/or liability investigations. These claims may involve multiple vehicles, excess property damage exposures and minor bodily injury claims. This position will also serve as a mentor to less experienced Adjusters and may assist in their training and development.
Compensation Minimum:$21.44
Compensation Maximum:$32.16
Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Recognize recovery opportunities in regards subrogation and salvage.
  • Communicate with involved parties and negotiate appropriate settlements with claimants, insureds and attorneys within approved payment authority.
  • Evaluate and investigate policy coverage, liability and damages in a timely manner following a set of general claim and statutory guidelines.
  • Establish initial reserves for all potential exposures and adjust as appropriate throughout the claim.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate management of assigned inventory following company guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough investigations which can include obtaining necessary documents or forms from customers and conducting recorded statements.
  • Assist internal and external customers with problems or questions regarding claims by phone or through written correspondence while providing a high level of customer service.
  • Ensure timely completion of appraisals and determine accident related damages.
  • Recognize and resolve minor injury exposures.
  • Recognize excess exposures and effectively communicate the implications of this both verbally and in writing to customers.
Experience/Skills Requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication, critical thinking, time management, negotiation, organization and investigative skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) as well as the calculation of averages and percentages.
  • Proficient PC and Windows skills.
  • 2+ years auto claims adjusting experience, or similar work experience. Experience in Non-standard Auto a plus.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service.
Education Requirements
  • INS or other insurance related courses preferred.
  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
