Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this position supports the design and execution of professional growth offerings for the distilled spirits industry, including content and program management and marketing for DISCUS Academy, APP Management for Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET), webinar facilitation, and DISCUS conference programming. Additionally, this role manages speaker engagement and preparedness. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for DISCUS Academy calendar and offerings Supports the execution of curriculum, speaker recruitment and speaker preparedness for all DISCUS Academy programs Works with industry subject matter experts to support online course creation, according to organizational strategic priorities and requests of Members and industry partners Manages virtual event production, including speaker engagement, as well as enrollee management and communication Drives participation in Education Partner Programs; manages the DISCUS WSET APP process and program Acts as the primary point of content for all DISCUS Academy and WSET enrolled students Participates in managing the DISCUS Academy Leadership Program Member Community (e.g., maintaining editorial calendar, coordinating posts, approving, and communicating with Members, working to build a sense of community) Provides event support for speaker coordination, speaker preparedness, and on-site execution Researches and recommends potential best practice delivery methodologies (e.g., blended learning, workshops, voice over PowerPoints, online learning, etc.) to best meet the Members' needs and improve DISCUS Academy value offering Ensures marketing and communication for all education initiatives is current and maintained, and promotes programing with DISCUS members Manages the process for editing and distributing weekly member newsletter CAPABILITY & SKILL REQUIREMENTS Detail-oriented with strong organizational, planning, writing and communication skills Outstanding customer service skills, including but not limited to being able to respond professionally and quickly to a variety of individuals, including speakers, participants, and industry partners Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to DISCUS Academy participants, members, vendors, speakers, and staff; This is a forward-facing role Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects at once Excellent computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.) Familiarity with Zoom, Teams, and other virtual meeting, webinar, and training platforms Proven ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES Personal alignment with DISCUS Values Possesses a high level of discretion and diplomacy, strong sense of integrity, dependable and self-motivated Responds positively when under pressure and enjoys a fast-paced environment Flexible and able to adapt quickly and positively as needed Interest in and willingness to learn about issues impacting the alcohol beverage industry EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of training and curriculum development experience. This is a hybrid working role, with an expectation to work approximately 50% from the Washington, DC DISCUS office and 50% home, or as otherwise agreed with the Chief of Staff.
