Our team offers a wide range of design capabilities to support companies worldwide at different stages of the design and development process. We specialize in Soft Goods Design and Development, including trend research, line planning, sketch ideation, 3D modeling, Technical Drawings, CMF development, and soft goods prototyping. Additionally, we provide sourcing for materials, fabrics, and manufacturing vendors, both domestically and overseas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a general Industrial Designer position posting, please don't hesitate to apply if you are interested in being part of our team. More specific job responsibilities and design position title will be defined further depending on the new team member. Work at FORMSTUDY is independent and collaborative in nature, requiring experience with design thinking and soft-goods design/development processes. Ideal candidate is able to work in tight coordination with the FORMSTUDY team and clients, as well as engaging in self-directed project management in all aspects of the design and development process, including client correspondence and project presentations.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Generate appropriate color options, product graphics, logos, and other markings as needed for client presentations.
• Translate user insights and market requirements into new product concepts per brief requirements.
• Present project status and design review with Design Lead and process concept revisions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Follow and adhere to timeline requirements as closely as possible and manage adjustments to schedule as needed.
• Collaborate directly with clients to ensure designs meet brand language, safety, manufacturability, timeline, and cost constraints.
• Create presentation-ready Sketches, Renderings, Tech Specs, 3D Models, and/or working prototypes to communicate design intent.
• General studio organization and upkeep as shared by the entire FORMSTUDY team to maintain a clean and orderly appearance.
• Work closely with and report directly to Lead Designer and/or Design Director.
• Understand and properly select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to support design intent.
• Engage in observational field research and real-world testing to gather data for design insights.
• Work closely with vendors and clients through product development to manage an iterative prototyping process.
• Actively participate in business development strategies, including maintaining client relations and potential client outreach.
• Domestic travel for project research, vendor sourcing, and attend trade shows with possible International travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent Time Management Skills to Meet Deadlines
• Understanding of the Soft Goods Design and Development Process
• Proficiency in Fusion 360 or other comparable 3D modeling program
• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or applicable soft goods product design/development experience
• 1 – 7 years’ experience in Industrial Design/or applicable design development of consumer products
• Proficient in Photoshop & Illustrator is Required

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Base Salary Range $60,000 - $85,000 depending on candidate experience and skill set
