Job Description
Description

Boulder County Public Health Department is seeking to hire a Immunization Clinic Nurse- Hourly. This position is primarily responsible for providing immunizations to the public at designated locations within the jurisdiction of Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) in support of COVID -19 vaccine administration and entering information into the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS). The position is hourly, roughly 15 – 20 hours per week. The position also occasionally participates in other projects, such as Vaccines for Children (VFC) provider site visits, special immunization clinics, and emergency preparedness trainings may be needed.

This is a term limited position with an anticipated end date of December 25, 2023. This is an hourly, non-benefited position with expectation to work 15 - 20 hours weekly. This position will work Monday, 12:30pm - 6:00pm; Wednesday 12:30pm - 4:00pm as well as some evenings and Saturdays. This position will work in-person at varies locations Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).

Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Hourly Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00

Tentative Hiring Timeline:
  • Language Proficiency Test: September 15th
  • First Interview: September 7th
  • Second Interview: September 11th
  • Phone Screening: September 5th

Examples of Duties

  • Documents client immunization history and provided immunizations in the CIIS database
  • Manages the creation, maintenance, sharing, storage, and disposal of all client protected health in-formation (PHI) in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements
  • Administering vaccinations and scheduling clients for vaccinations
  • Provides immunizations according to BCPH Immunization Program policy and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) protocols
  • May be reassigned in emergency situations
  • Routine vaccine management and storage
  • Stays informed and up-to-date with current immunization schedule and guidelines
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Communicates with clients about vaccines and their immunization needs

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing and at least one year of experience working in a clinic or hospital environment. Additional related education may apply toward required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a current license to practice as a registered nurse (R.N.) in Colorado.
BACKGROUND CHECK:

DRIVER'S LICENSE:
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record; and access to reliable transportation that is readily available for business use

  • Can work weekends
  • Customer service experience and a desire to work with the public
  • Knowledge or interest local history, automobiles, musical instruments, or related field
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with people from various backgrounds and ages
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work well with infants and small children.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients of different cultures and belief systems.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to various clinic locations in Boulder County.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook) and database programs.
  • Ability to effectively counsel clients and to assess clients’ needs.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about public health principles
  • Thorough knowledge of or willingness to learn about vaccine-preventable diseases, available vaccines, and immunization schedules and techniques.
