Job Description
Job TitleIllustration EditorAs Illustration Editor for Dotdash Meredith's Visual Asset Team, you will be responsible for providing art direction to a team of illustrators and graphic designers in the creation of beautiful, custom, and informative illustrations, photo composites, and infographics to support high-quality content across a variety of Dotdash Meredith brands.Candidate reports to the Sr. Illustration Editor, Visual Asset TeamAbout your Contributions:- Partner with our Editorial, Design, Content, and Growth teams to identify, establish, and deliver unique, high quality illustrations, photo composites, and infographic concepts for articles across multiple Dotdash Meredith brands.- Provide timely, constructive, feedback to illustrators and graphic designers focused on how they can improve images both on a conceptual level and in terms of layout, typography, and color.- Lead and actively participate in the development of illustrations and infographics from concept to completion, beginning with a brief, and sketches, and ending with a finished digital piece of art.- Serve as design liaison in the production, organization, and optimization of our library of illustrated assets.- Create artwork and graphics as templates or mockups for illustrators/editors to reference as well as for publication.- Perform routine QA checks to ensure the illustration team is adhering to ethical standards by not copying/tracing published works or by using AI technology to create artwork.- Actively manage process for all departmental creative new hires: - Assist with vetting new candidates - Coordination of test process for all new candidates - Provide mentoring and feedback to candidates - Make appropriate suggestions to management regarding candidate ability to move forward in the process (or not) - Ensure editorial teams are familiar with all new hires' portfolios and test submissions.About your Qualifications:- 2-3 years professional experience as an illustrator, or graphic designer- 1-2 years administrative experience- Experience collaborating with creatives, motivating people to do their best work- Ability to communicate ideas clearly- Ability to think creatively within the constraints of a brief and brand guidelines- Solid foundational art & design background in typography, color, and composition- Ability to sketch, concept and generate ideas quickly- Ability to create clean, bold, scalable work-distilling even complex topics to their simplest form- Strong sense of cultural awareness- Solid organizational and time management skills- Fluent in key applications within Adobe Creative Cloud- Editorial experience a plus- Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field preferredIt is the policy of Meredith Operations Corporation ("Dotdash Meredith", "the Company") to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash Meredith's total compensation package for employees.
