Job Description

Exciting Direct Hire Opportunity!


Our Client, a diversified global company manufacturing company in Northern Michigan, has an immediate need for a HR Generalist. This position is responsible for carrying out responsibilities in all HR functional areas while being an employee advocate who models our values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.


The company will provide relation assistance if needed.


Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate employee records regarding pay rates, shift details, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, etc.
  • Administers day-to-day performance management activities; conducts investigations; and issues corrective action
  • Partner with the Training Coordinator to administer the hourly work system (level advancement Keep up-to-date with the employee relations climate in the organization
  • Ensure consistent management application of Company specific policies
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process for both hourly and salary positions and oversees new hire onboarding
  • Administer various aspects of the organization’s compensation and benefit, recruitment, employee development, organization development, and employee relations programs
  • Occasional travel within the US and Canada may be required (less than 5%)
  • Coordinates community involvement initiatives and mill employee event


Qualifications include:

  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in an HRIS system required; SAP platforms highly beneficial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Must have experience as first point of contact for employees to include coaching, performance management, and collaborative conflict resolution
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships by engaging with others at all levels of the organization to embrace diversity of thought and inclusiveness of all team members
  • Strong knowledge of HR laws, policies, principles, and employment legislation required
  • Must demonstrate an openness and ability to give and receive feedback
  • Must place safety as the first priority and demonstrate safe working behaviors at all times
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
