Job Description

Duties

As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT, you will:

  • Monitor the Employment Services inquiry box and direct customers to the correct point of contact (POC) or provides a thorough response.
  • Serve as an assistant to Human Resources Specialists working in the Employment Services Division of the Office of Human Resources.
  • Respond to customer inquiries on such matters as procedures for filing applications, status of recruitment announcements, kinds of vacancies in the organization serviced and hiring procedures and announcements.
  • Serve as a liaison with the shared service center Employee Benefits Branch regarding the submission of benefit documentation, assist employees with the submission of documents such as retirement (disability, voluntary, etc.), TSP, and beneficiaries.
  • Perform a wide variety of technical support duties in the HR functional areas of Recruitment and Placement, Benefits, and general employment processes and services.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-7, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
  • Assisting with human resource processes such as recruiting, and placement AND
  • Applying Human Resources regulations, laws and guidance AND
  • Utilizing a human resources automated system.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
