Job Description
We are looking for a talented Human Resource Generalist to join our Firm. This professional will run the daily functions of the Human Resources department. The Human Resource Generalist performs a range of administrative functions related to human resource management, employee development, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and employee benefits administration, including administering pay and leave, assisting with accounts payable activities, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position also conducts regular HR training for employees and supervisors.
Compensation
$50,000 - $60,000 yearly
Responsibilities:Under the supervision of the VP of Operations, the Human Resource Generalist is responsible for the following:Performs tasks required to develop, administer, and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.Drafts, reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.Acts as the Firm’s Ambassador for wellness initiatives.Oversees the offboarding activities of all employees.Assists the VP of Operations and Supervising Attorneys in conducting constructive and timely performance evaluations. Assists the VP of Operations in handling the discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.Under the direction of the Director of Finance, reconciles payroll to the general ledger.Assists the Finance Team with accounts payable responsibilities.Completes all state agency and federal government surveys.Oversees the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of administrative and legal support staff.Plans, directs, and administers various human resource programs.Under the supervision of the VP of Operations, writes and revises job classification specifications.Under the supervision of the VP of Operations, develops, reviews, and revises the Firm’s policies and procedures.Ensures employees understand and follow all policies and procedures.Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of human resource management, dynamics of employee development and professional growth, and training program design and presentation.Working knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations.Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.Ability to plan, organize and present training activities to diverse employee groups.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite programs.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required.At least four years of human resource experience; or any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Prior work in a professional services field is preferred.SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.Human resource management experience preferred.Two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least 12 months of experience in payroll is preferred.About Company
