Job Description

Want to join a dynamic, rapidly growing SaaS company that's disrupting a multi-billion-dollar industry? That's what we're doing here at Avalara. We're looking for a skilled HR Generalist to join our world-class People Partner team.

 

The HR Generalist supports and facilitates the People Partner processes across Avalara’s US operations.  This role provides administrative assistance to the People Partners, including employee status updates, change request submissions, reporting, payroll requests and inquiries, and the termination process. This role will also lead special project in support of the global People Partner initiatives. The HR Generalist will partner with the first level Engineering managers on people related issues, requests, projects, initiatives, inquiries, etc., escalating to the Sr or Global People Partner as appropriate.

 

 

  • Partner with other areas of HR (total rewards, recruiting, TM/LD, HR Services, etc, ) to streamline processes and encourage collaboration.
  • Partner with COEs for issue resolutions as needed.
  • Participating in improving HR processes.
  • Provide policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
  • Assist the US People Partner team in implementing programs and policies throughout the businesses they support via communications planning, project management, data gathering and analysis.
  • Support the US People Partners in People change initiatives.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure accurate data quality for audits and reporting.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and day to day support to Engineering managers to effectively manage and resolve people issues (org changes, employee relations, performance management, talent reviews, change management initiatives, etc), ensuring all actions conform to regulatory/ legislative requirements.
  • Provide administrative and tactical support to the US People Partners.
  • Be the point of contact for People related queries.
  • Work with Employee Relations and serve as the primary liaison with business/functional areas on ER matters, such as performance issues, accommodations, policy violations, job eliminations, escalating up to Sr or Global People Partners as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Leading projects and/or contributing to projects in support of the People Partner team goals and initiatives.

 

  • Must maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information and strong documentation skills.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years human resources experience in a global organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field required. Professional HR certification a plus.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Ability to work alone on a broad variety of projects establishing and maintaining strong working relationships within all levels of the Organization.
  • Experience with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
