Job Description

Summary: The Houseperson works under close supervision of the Housekeeping Inspector to help maintain the cleanliness of the hotel. Performs a wide variety of activities such as sweep and vacuum floors, clean restrooms, and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains confidentiality of guest information
  • Wipes down ice machines and vending machines
  • Cleans ash trays, trash cans, and elevators
  • Follows directions thoroughly and to completion
  • Sweeps and mops walkways, and power wash as needed
  • Responds quickly and courteously to all guest requests and complaints
  • Maintains the cleanliness of hotel
  • Reports all biohazard spills to the supervisor immediately
  • Responsible for providing Guest Room Attendants (GRAs) the materials/ items needed to perform their daily tasks
  • Picks up trash and debris around the outside of the hotel, in parking lots and on sidewalks
  • Empties the GRA carts three to four times per day and at the end of the shift
  • Empties vacuum cleaner bags daily
  • Understands and complies with job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Empties the trash and unloads soiled linen
  • Reports all maintenance issues in guest rooms and hotel areas to supervisor/inspector
  • Cleans and dries wet and biohazard spills in accordance with company procedures as well as OSHA guidelines as they pertain to biohazard material

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Three months minimum related experience and/or training

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate via radio
  • Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal pertaining to job
  • Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably Housekeeping
  • Able to distinguish between shades of color
  • Able to work outdoors 75% of the time
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, stoop, and kneel
  • Vision, hearing, speaking (critical)
  • Able to push, pull and maneuver a 70 pound maid cart at least 75% of time
