Position Overview
The Support Service Worker is at our Manteno Veterans’ Home. This position serves under the direction of the Support Service Coordinator I. Job Responsbilities
1. Provides routine, repetitive housekeeping tasks and duties to maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions required by IDPH and IDVA
2. Maintains cleanliness and orderly resident rooms and buildings
3. Collaborates with the Activity Department for group activities by providing the clean-up of garbage from the activities on the units and as directed by the supervisor for facility events
4. Promptly reports supply shortages and equipment problems or repairs needed to the supervisor
5. Assists in the training of other workers and discusses expectations and progress with the supervisor
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in housekeeping
Conditions of Employment
1. Must meet all agency vaccine/health related policies and guidance
2. Must pass a background check
3. Must pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical
4. Able to work with various types of cleaning equipment and a variety of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and solutions
5. Able to stand for the duration of the shift, aside from official breaks and lunch periods
6. Able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
7. Able to bend, stoop, twist, stand and walk for protracted periods of time, use fine and gross hand manipulation
8. Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime
